Project Overview
John Holland has been awarded the Youth Justice Redevelopment Project by the Department of Justice and Regulation. The project is located to the west of Werribee, in the vicinity of Cherry Creek and is being procured under a Managing Contractor Contract.
The redevelopment is part of a significant program of upgrades and improvements to existing youth justice infrastructure to ensure the safety of the wider community, youth justice staff and young people in contact with the justice system.
An overview of the key features of the new facility include:
- a range of accommodation units
- assessment facility to process and assess new remandees. Zoned system to address different factors.
- infrastructure to support the pathway to rehabilitation, with the potential for clients to transition through accommodation types, enabling a less restrictive regime while still within the secure precinct
Timeline
Stage 1 - Early Works - Commencement Early Jan 2019
- Construction of access road
- Site establishment and construction of site facilities and carpark
- Other Early Works
Tender Packages will be assessed based on a multi-stage process which includes the expression of interest stage and the shortlisting stage.
Shortlisting of tenderers will be determined through the evaluation of criteria including safety, quality and environmental management systems, current and historical performances and experiences, capacity to complete the works, financial and risk.

Industry Briefing Session
Potential Suppliers attended an information session on Tuesday 9 October 2018.
The session facilitated by the Industry Capability Network at Encore Event Centre, 80 Derrimut Road, Hoppers Crossing was hosted by the Department of Justice together with project managers John Holland covered upcoming packages and procurement timing for the project.
