A new world-class resort for Brisbane

A new world-class integrated resort development is being constructed that will put Brisbane on the map as a tourism, leisure and entertainment destination.

Queen’s Wharf Brisbane Integrated Resort Development covers more than 12 hectares of development over land, making up nearly 10% of the Brisbane CBD. The redevelopment will see the area transformed to include:

 

  • 50 new restaurants, bars and cafes
  • Four premium hotel brands - including The Ritz Carlton Brisbane and Brisbane's first 6-star hotel
  • 12 football fields of public space
  • A Sky Deck 100 metres above ground, offering 360-degree views of the river and city
  • Three residential towers
  • Repurposed heritage buildings
  • A new pedestrian bridge to South Bank
  • High-end retail department store
  • A world-class casino and gaming facilities replacing the existing casino.

With the core of the development expected to open in 2022, Queen’s Wharf Brisbane will transform the Central Business District and river’s edge, embracing Brisbane’s inviting subtropical climate and celebrating the precinct’s Indigenous and European heritage.  

Joint Venture Destination Brisbane Consortium, with partners including the Star Entertainment Group, Far East Consortium and Chow Tai Fook, is delivering the $3.6 billion integrated resort development.

Earlier this year, excavation and shoring work began on the Integrated Resort Development. The basement excavation work package will continue until late 2019 and includes piling, construction of a diaphragm wall (on the river side of the development) and excavation of around 450,000m3 of material, making it the largest city-based excavation project in Queensland.

Meanwhile Multiplex started work on the Foreshore South project in August 2018, with a scope of works that includes an upgrade to the 500-metre section of the Bicentennial Bikeway to include a 3-metre wide cycleway and separated 2-metre wide pedestrian path. They will also construct a new 450-metre long Mangrove Walk above the Brisbane River and a new inner-city active recreation park, which will include bespoke artwork to the underside of the Riverside Expressway.

Destination Brisbane Consortium is currently tendering for the shell and core of the integrated resort development and the Pedestrian Bridge. Both contracts are expected to be awarded in the first half of 2019.
